Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development, and Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, recently announced a new stream under Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program. The so-called “Global Talent” Pilot Stream is intended to attract highly skilled workers to Canada by offering employers a faster and more predictable immigration process.

Set to launch on June 12, 2017, the new stream is specifically intended to make it easier for those individuals deemed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada as both high skilled and low-risk to be granted a work permit with the support of their employer and an expedited labour-market impact assessment program.

The proposed program, while still being finalized, will assist Canadian employers in quickly securing highly skilled workers from around the globe.
