Permanent residents of Canada are generally eligible for Canadian citizenship if they have been physically in Canada for at least 1,095 days (or three (3) years) during the five (5) years preceding the date their citizenship application is submitted. Applicants who are between the ages of 18 to 54 on the day their application is signed, must show that they can speak and listen at a specific level in one of Canada’s main languages (English or French), including that the applicant meets the Canadian Language Benchmarks (“CLB”) Level 4 or higher.
